The relationship between the body and emotions

A big part of how we feel about ourselves pertains to how we feel inside our bodies. This relationship begins since we are little, when you become aware of how you look and you compare yourself to others. As social creatures we see ourselves in relation to the group. Am I younger, thinner, prettier than the others? As a woman, your can be so critical of your own body in negative ways, assuming that you need to look like whatever the social norms of your time and place proclaim the ideal look should be. Even if that ideal changes overtime, you still compare yourself to the rest and the results are rarely in your favor. How you compare to others also changes overtime. For example, the way I see myself now that I am in my forties is definitely different from how I saw myself as a teen or as a young woman…
